Who we are
DWA Accounting & Taxation ("we", "us") operates from Suite 5, 539 Kiewa Street, Albury NSW 2640. This policy explains how we handle personal information, consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
To provide accounting and taxation services we generally need to collect your name, contact details, tax file number, financial records, income and deduction information, and details of your business or investment interests. Where you contact us through this website, we collect only what you enter into the enquiry form.
Why we collect it
We collect personal information to prepare and lodge returns and financial statements, provide advice, meet our obligations as a registered tax agent, and communicate with you about your affairs. We do not use your information for marketing without your consent.
Who we disclose it to
We disclose personal information to the Australian Taxation Office and other regulators where required, and to third parties you have asked us to deal with, such as your solicitor, bank or financial adviser. We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose personal information overseas.
How we hold it
Records are held in secure electronic systems and in locked storage where held on paper. We retain records for the periods required by taxation law, generally at least five years, and destroy or de-identify them when they are no longer required.
This website
Our enquiry form is processed by Netlify, our hosting provider, and the contents are emailed to our office. Our website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Embedded content, such as the Google Maps panel on our contact page, is served by third parties who may collect their own usage data under their own privacy policies.
Access and correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
