The principal

Darren Warner CA

Darren leads DWA. He is a Chartered Accountant practising in Albury.

Chartered Accountant means ongoing training, a code of conduct and answering to CA ANZ. It is more than a licence to lodge returns. What the difference means for you.

The practice runs under a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation. ABN 44 944 867 868.

Xero Gold Partner

DWA is a Xero Gold Partner. Your books can live in Xero, with the firm set up as your adviser inside it, so the numbers you see are the numbers we see.

The firm

28 years in Albury. New name, same phone number.

The practice has advised Albury businesses since 1998. In 2023 it changed hands and took the DWA name. It moved to Kiewa Street, on the corner of Englehardt Street.

The approach did not change. Nor did the phone number. Many clients from the first years are still here. That is the part of this job worth doing.

A long relationship changes the work. After 15 years of your accounts, the odd year stands out. You get asked about it before it becomes a problem.

Most of the work is small business tax and BAS. Self managed super funds come a close second. The same person sees your business and your fund. You explain things once.

The team is small on purpose. No call centre. No offshore processing. No account manager between you and the person doing your work.

How we work

What you can expect.

The same people every year

Your file is not passed around. The person who did last year's return does this one. They remember the detail.

Plain answers

Tax law is hard. Explaining it to you should not be. If we cannot say why, we have not thought it through.

A fee you agreed to

Scope and fee in writing before work starts. If something odd turns up, you hear about it before the work, not after.

Both sides of the border

Border businesses face 2 states at once. NSW and Victorian rules get handled side by side, as routine.

Call any month, not just June

Ring when the question comes up. The costly decisions happen months before the return is due.

No judgement about the shoebox

Records arrive in every state, often years behind. We have seen worse than yours. It is fixable.

The people

Who you will actually deal with.

The team is small by design. Ask who will handle your work before you sign on. Meet them first if you like.

Call (02) 6021 4044 and you will be introduced.

Where we work

Albury, Wodonga and about an hour around.

Most clients are within an hour of the office, on both sides of the river. Distance is rarely the problem people expect it to be.

Business on both sides of the border

Two payroll tax thresholds, two workers comp schemes and two sets of duty rules. We handle NSW and Victoria together, as routine.

Moved away? Stay with us.

Clients who left the border kept their accountant. Phone, email and shared online records cover almost all of it.

Start with a free consultation.

Half an hour, no charge. You leave knowing what you need. The fee follows in writing.
